Although the initial response from parents to our announcing the implementation of uniforms has been positive, there have understandably been quite a few questions. Following are those most often asked. Hopefully this will help. WHY UNIFORMS? Uniforms are cost-effective, eliminate "what am I wearing today " morning wars, make school shopping a snap, but most particularly they meet the dress code standards of Heritage. (Please see the attached copy of our May 9, 2001 letter.) ARE THE UNIFORMS EXPENSIVE? As you can see by the catalog, the answer is NO! Not only are the prices affordable, the quality is excellent. The garments should wear better and last longer. DO I NEED TO IRON EVERY DAY? Not any more than you do now and possibly even less. Just remove promptly from the dryer and hang/fold as usual. WHY DIDN'T HERITAGE CHOOSE JUMPERS FOR THE LITTLE GIRLS? The longest length jumper offered by French Toast (and other uniform companies) only comes to just above the knee. HBA wanted clothing that would eliminate the "Is that skirt long enough?" modesty question. The cargo skirt fit the bill. WHAT COLORS ARE WE TO ORDER? Any color listed in the catalog! HBA is not requiring that certain grades wear certain colors or even that you must wear certain color combinations on certain days. The only restrictions placed are on the colors for our young ladies' shirts (i.e. no white, yellow, or light blue) for modesty issues. WHEN CAN I START TO ORDER? Immediately! The link has been established as of June 8*. WHY DO I NEED TO GO THROUGH HERITAGE'S WEB SITE TO ORDER? First, our website includes only those items that are a part of our program, thereby avoiding any chance of ordering anything that has not been approved. Also, HBA will receive a modest "commission" (7%) on everything that is purchased through our website. This will help offset some of the cost of initiating and maintaining the program I DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO THE INTERNET, NOW WHAT DO I DO? Heritage has a way for you to order too. Enclosed with this information, you will find two order sheets. Fill them out as you would any catalog order. Then mail to Heritage with your check or money order, and we will place the order for you. WHAT ARE SOME WAYS TO SAVE MONEY ON THE INITIAL EXPENSE OF OUTFITTING MY CHILDREN) WITH UNIFORMS? First of all, you do not have to buy everything right away. Purchase a little at a time over the course of the summer. Second, try starting out with just three complete outfits per child. That's one to wash, one to wear, and one for tomorrow. Third, instead of purchasing long sleeve shirts for the winter months, try buying one sweater instead. The sweater can be worn over the short sleeve shirt and can be taken off if your child gets too warm. WILL THE FRENCH TOAST SWEATERS BE MANDATORY? For the 2001-2002 school year, the French Toast sweaters are optional. Regular school sweaters (no slogans, logos, etc.) are fine. WHAT DO I DO WITH THE UNIFORMS ONCE MY CHILD HAS OUTGROWN THEM? Heritage is hoping you will consider donating your used uniforms to our "Clothes Closet". Once established, we hope this will be a blessing to families who need a little help staying in step with the dress code: I'VE LOOKED AROUND THE FRENCH TOAST WEB SITE, AND I'D LIKE TO ORDER ITEMS NOT IN HERITAGE'S CATALOG. MAY I STILL ORDER THEM? Absolutely. Please keep in mind, however, that only the items of clothing in our catalog are approved for HBA. No other styles will be allowed during school hours. ONCE I'VE ORDERED, HOW SOON CAN I EXPECT MY ORDER TO ARRIVE? With normal shipping, you can expect your order within one to two weeks. (Please allow one extra week if you are mailing your order to Heritage.)
